AI Product Development

Zero to production, built on live model behaviour.

Interfaces designed against what the model actually does, not against screenshots. Streaming, latency, empty states, corrections and failure are part of the design from the first week, because in an AI product they are most of the experience.

The basics

What is AI product development?

Startups building an AI product SaaS companies adding AI features Agencies launching a tool Businesses digitising a service

AI product development means building software where an AI model does part of the work, writing, answering, sorting, predicting or talking, inside an app your customers or team actually use.

The hard part is not calling a model. It is everything around it: what the user sees while the AI is thinking, how mistakes are caught and corrected, how much each request costs, and how the product behaves on day 400, not just in the demo.

In practice

Our own AI Content Engine turns one brief into a researched, publish-ready article. It is the same kind of product we build for clients.

Why it matters

How it helps your business.

01

Launch faster

Design, engineering and AI work happen in one team, so there are no hand-off delays.

02

Users trust it

Loading states, sources and easy corrections are designed in, so people keep using it.

03

Costs stay under control

Each request is tuned for the cheapest model that still gives a good answer.

04

Built to grow

Proper backend, logging and testing from day one, not a prototype held together with tape.

Where it is used

Real ways teams use it.

SaaS
Adding an AI assistant, writer or analyst inside an existing product.
Education
Course builders, tutors and counsellor tools.
Healthcare and clinics
Appointment, intake and patient-communication tools.
E-commerce
Product description, search and recommendation features.
Media and marketing
Content and reporting products like our Content Engine.
Internal tools
Dashboards and assistants for your own team.

When this is the right call

You are probably here because one of these is true.

01 A prototype demos beautifully and falls apart with real users.
02 The model is good but the product around it is not.
03 You need something in customers’ hands, not another proof of concept.
04 Nobody has designed what happens when the answer is wrong.
What you get

Deliverables, not a summary of our thinking.

01

Working product

Shipped, instrumented, and running against production traffic, not a clickable prototype.

02

Behaviour design

How the system streams, waits, cites, hedges and corrects, specified and built rather than left to chance.

03

Failure states

What a user sees on a timeout, a refusal, a low-confidence answer or a rate limit. Designed, not improvised.

04

Evaluation harness

A test suite over your own tasks, so a prompt change is measured instead of guessed.

05

Handover

Code, infrastructure and documentation, owned by you from day one.

How it runs

The shape of the engagement.

Our own Content Engine is this service applied to ourselves: eight stages, deterministic gates, and a run that takes about four minutes. We build products we would have to operate.

Weeks 1-2 Discovery, model probing, and the shape of the product.
Weeks 3-6 Design and build in weekly increments you can use.
Weeks 7-10 Hardening, evaluation, instrumentation.
Weeks 11-12 Staged rollout and handover.

FAQ

Questions about AI Product Development.

How long does it take to build an AI product?+

A focused first version usually takes eight to twelve weeks from kickoff to live users.

Do you design as well as build?+

Yes. Product design, frontend, backend and model work are all done by the same team.

Which AI models do you use?+

Whichever fits the job, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or open-source models. We often mix them to balance quality and cost.

Who owns the code?+

You do. The code, prompts and data are yours at the end of the project.

Can you add AI to our existing app?+

Yes. Many projects are AI features added to a product that already has users.

Tell us what you are trying to do.

We will tell you honestly whether AI Product Development is the right answer, and if it is not, which of the other seven is.
